Objectives : Geographic Information (GI) plays an increasingly important role in many areas of our lives: environmental protection, business and marketing, communications, forecasting, modelling, agriculture, and local and regional planning.
Understanding GI systems (the software tools) and GI science (the technical discipline) is essential for effective management and analysis of spatial data.
Resources available to you include an optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) lab, an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, a scanning electron microscope, a cold store, a Coulter laser diffraction particle size analyser, differential GPS, and a 3D laser scanner - along with a wide range of electronic and traditional field equipment.
